Melbourne Convention Centre


The Melbourne Convention Centre is part of the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Complex and is located in the central business district of Melbourne.

IDEA 2008 is taking place on the third level of the Convention centre (located adjacent to the World Trade Centre on the corner of Flinders Street and Spencer Street) in the You Yangs Hall rooms.

Internet availability

A Wireless internet access plan is available for purchase via the "MECC" service Set Identification (SSID)

To connect:

  1. Click the wireless icon
  2. Refresh network list to connect to MECC via Wireless manager
  3. Open the Web browser and the "MECC Credit card" page will load automatically
  4. "Select Internet Access" plan
  5. Click "update total" button to confirm selection.

Parking

Fees for parking range from $6.00 to $26.00 for casual parking and between $9.00 and $10.00 for other special arrangements.

Flights

Melbourne Airport offers an excellent choice of frequent scheduled international and domestic flights or alternatively you can visit Qantas.

Accommodation

IDEA delegates are responsible for booking their own accommodation. There are several large events in Melbourne during November and early reservations are recommended.

It is recommended to book online or through wotif for best rates.
